MICHIGAN ACT COMMITTEE

The Michigan ACT Committee was established in 1977 to heighten the public’s awareness of the problems associated with auto theft. ACT is a coalition of law enforcement, insurance companies, judicial agencies, and private industry (such as auto manufacturers, car rental agencies, and manufacturers of auto theft devices).

Along with providing assistance to law enforcement; ACT furnishes technical resources and data necessary to support and encourage strong legislative advocacy for both federal and state auto theft related statutes.

The committee supports and funds the training of law enforcement, insurance industry personnel, and other interested parties who want a better understanding of motor vehicle theft, fraud detection, investigation, and auto theft prevention.

The organization also supports a nationwide network of committees to combat auto theft. HEAT® and the Michigan ACT Committee work hand-in-hand to educate the public and support law enforcement agencies throughout the state.
