Reward Levels & Eligibility


 

HEAT® tip callers are rewarded with:

  • up to $1,000 if their tip leads to the arrest and prosecution of a suspected car thief and for auto theft-related insurance fraud;



  • up to $10,000 is awarded if the tip results in the arrest and binding over for trial of suspected theft ring members and/or chop shop operators; and



  • $2,000 for information leading to the issuance of a warrant of a carjacking suspect.


 

Those ineligible to receive HEAT® tip rewards:

  • Police officers or any resident relative.



  • Individuals directly involved in the HEAT® program, from MAIPF and their HEAT® committee or any resident relative.



  • Retired police personnel for a period of at least three years after their retirement or any resident relative for the same period of time.



  • Individuals employed as security guards or any resident relative.



  • Anyone actively involved in the investigation of fraud or auto theft for his or her company or any resident relative.
